Rosberg Takes Final Engine For Singapore Following Failure In Italy
Nico Rosberg’s chances of taking victory at this weekend’s Singapore night race have received a boost as the German who heads into this race 53 points behind his team mate and championship leader Lewis Hamilton has a fresh power unit in the back of his W06.
Rosberg is now on his fourth and final power unit of the 2015 season having suffered a power unit failure last time out at the Italian Grand Prix.
While Hamilton has another engine in his pocket, Rosberg is well aware of the risks of taking his final penalty free power unit from tomorrow’s Free Practice One at the Marina Bay circuit.
Speaking about the situation Rosberg commented by saying:
I am not sure how compromising it will be going forward, most likely a small compromise at least and maybe a bigger one depending. But we don’t know yet. I have a chance. You can either keep believing or don’t and I have chosen to and that is going to help in the next couple of races,
While Rosberg is not giving up on winning the championship this year he admits that Singapore could prove to the best chance for their rivals to challenge the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team due to the street circuit layout of Marina Bay.
There could be a couple of surprises here, For example Red Bull could surprise because they were quick in Hungary and even at Spa in the corners. Ferrari of course will be there as usual. Also historically anything can happen in sport so I will keep pushing. With the car we have it is possible to win at every race weekend.
Rosberg has taken three victories this season with back to back wins in Spain and Monaco and at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
In contrast Lewis Hamilton has seven victories this season in Australia, back to back wins in China and Bahrain, Canada, Great Britain and back to back wins at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium and last time out in Monza, Italy.
