Third A Great Result For Raikkonen Following His Tough Weekend
Kimi Raikkonen was happy to finish the Singapore night race at the Marina Bay circuit on the podium in third place giving Ferrari their first double podium of the season. The Iceman started the race from third place on the grid behind Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo and pole sitter Sebastian Vettel in the sister Ferrari.
Raikkonen had a problematic Friday and challenging start to his day on Saturday suffering from poor grip throughout the weekend so was happy with securing his second podium of the season his first since the Bahrain Grand Prix where he finished the race in second place.
Raikkonen made a good getaway off the line compared to the last race in Italy and very nearly overtook Ricciardo into turn one but was wise as the first turn is tight and settled in the race thereafter. Speaking following the race the Iceman said that his pace was good at the start of the event but as the race went on he knew it was going to be tough to catch the Red Bull.
As a result of his third place Raikkonen has moved up to fourth place in the championship on 107 points, 96 behind team mate and Singapore race winner Sebastian Vettel with sixth races to go in 2015.
The last time the Prancing Horse had both cars on the podium was the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix.
