Wolff Confirms Mercedes Will Take Matters Into Their Own Hands If The Lotus Situation Is Not Resolved Soon
Head of Mercedes Benz motorsport Toto Wolff has issued a warning to the Lotus F1 Team saying that if a decision regarding the potential majority buy out by Renault. The Enstone outfit who are currently supplied by Mercedes have been in talks with Renault since late May early June however a deal has yet to be concluded.
Lotus F1 Team CEO Matthew Carter revealed to BBC F1 in Japan this morning that Renault would be putting out a press release on the matter at some point next week.
However Wolff has confirmed that the Silver Arrows need to finalize who they will be supplying power units to with the Austrian confirming that the company are on standby to supply power units to Manor saying:
We like Manor a lot because there is a competitive edge to the whole story, if Manor gets the right chassis and engine it would be a pretty interesting narrative of how the team develops.
Wolff revealed that Mercedes are not in a position to issue Lotus and Renault with a deadline on when a deal needs to be concluded.
