FIA Block VW From Competing In WRC With A 2017 Polo

The World Rally Championship’s governing body the FIA have blocked Volkswagen’s attempt to compete in the series in 2017 with a brand new Polo.

Volkswagen motorsport had hoped to lease cars out to privateer teams for the 2017 season however the FIA have rejected the bid. The German manufacturer confirmed that they accepted the decision from the FIA and will continue with their plans to run 2016 customers in the WRC.

The Hanover company pulled out of the World Rally Championship as a manufacturer at the end of last season following four years of dominating the sport.
