An Extremely Strong Start For Honda At The Toyota Grand Prix Of Long Beach

The Honda powered teams hit the ground running at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach on Friday morning as they secured seven of the top ten positions as the Verizon IndyCar Series prepare for round 2 of the 2017 season.

Scott Dixon in the Honda powered No.9 NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing car ended the session fastest just ahead of the Chevrolet powered Team Penske of Helio Castroneves.

Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg race winner Sebastien Bourdais in the No.18 Dale Coyne Racing Honda ended the session in third place just ahead of Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe in the No.5 Arrow Honda.

Alexander Rossi ended the session in sixth place in the No.98 NAPA Auto Parts Honda just ahead of Team Penske’s Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Chevrolet.

Ryan Hunter Reay in the No.28 DHL Honda ended the session in seventh place just ahead of Tony Kanaan in the No.10 NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing Honda. Reigning series champion Simon Pagenaud was ninth fastest while Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Mikhail Aleshin rounded out the top ten.
