The Verizon IndyCar Series is in California this weekend for today’s Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves in the No.3 Auto Club of Southern California Chevrolet secured his 38th Verizon IndyCar Series P1 Award and starts the event just ahead of Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon in the No.9 NTT DATA Honda.

Ryan Hunter Reay starts the race from third place for Andretti Autosport just ahead of Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe who made it into the Firestone Fast Six for the second race in a row.

Alexander Rossi starts the race from fifth place while Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal rounds out the Firestone Fast Six.

The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach has been extended by five laps this season from 80 to 85 laps. The big question this weekend is having secured the Verizon P1 Award for today’s race, can Chevrolet take victory this weekend.

The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach is a fantastic circuit with the race taking place on a 1.968 mile temporary circuit with 11 turns and is run clockwise.

The action will be available through http://racecontrol.indycar.com and is also available via the Verizon IndyCar Series mobile app.
