Brown To Join Alonso At Indianapolis While Boullier Runs The Show In Monaco
McLaren Executive Director Zak Brown will join double Formula One champion Fernando Alonso at the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.
It was confirmed on Wednesday that Alonso will join Andretti Autosport to compete in the Indianapolis 500 in a Andretti Autosport/McLaren Honda at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at the end of May. The news means that the Spaniard will miss the Monaco Grand Prix which takes place on the same day as the Indianapolis 500.
While Brown in Indianapolis with Alonso, the Formula One team will be under the leadership of McLaren Racing Director Eric Boullier who will be at the Monaco Grand Prix with Stoffel Vandoorne and an as yet to be named replacement for Alonso.
Today’s announcement came both from Bahrain where Brown and Alonso are preparing for the Bahrain Grand Prix, while at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Speedway president Doug Boles was joined by CEO of Hulman & Company, the parent company of the Verizon IndyCar Series, Mark Miles.
