Dixon To Get A New Chassis For Detroit

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Managing Director Mike Hull has confirmed to Paddock Eye that Scott Dixon will get a new chassis for this weekend’s Chevrolet Belle Isle Duel In Detroit.

Dixon, who started Sunday’s 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil from pole position and was involved in a huge accident which resulted in the Iceman’s No.9 Camping World Honda being completely destroyed, despite the damage to the car, the Iceman walked away with just a sore ankle but he will be back in the car this weekend.

When asked by Paddock Eye, what the situation with Dixon’s car is ahead of this weekend’s on track action, Hull stated:

The took the load – warranty has expired on that chassis – will roll another into the rotation.

Despite retiring from Sunday’s race, Dixon heads to Detroit in fourth place in the series standings on 234 points equal with Indianapolis 500 winner Takuma Sato who is in third place and equal with reigning series champion Simon Pagenaud in second place. Dixon is just 11 points behind series leader Helio Castroneves.
