I’m Just A Little Beaten Up
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon in the No.9 Camping World Honda who started the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil from pole position said he was a little beaten up following a huge accident involving Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Jay Howard in the No.77 Lucas Oil Honda.
Dixon went airborne and upside down in the crash which saw his car completely destroyed. The Iceman walked away from the accident and stated after the race race:
“I’m just a little beaten up. “It was definitely a bit of a rough ride.
“I was hoping that Jay was going to stay against the wall, but obviously, there was the impact. I had already picked that way to go and there was nowhere else to go to avoid him. It was definitely a wild ride. Big thanks to the Holmatro Safety Team, INDYCAR and Dallara and everyone for the safety standards we have on these cars.
Dixon heads to Detroit next weekend in fourth place in the Verizon IndyCar Series standings on 234 points, equal with Indianapolis 500 winner Takuma Sato.
