Jones Aiming To Build On Indy 500 Result With A Strong Performance In Detroit
Dale Coyne Racing’s Ed Jones heads into this weekend’s Detroit Grand Prix on Belle Isle looking to carry the momentum he has from a strong result at last weekend’s 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil where he finished on the podium in third place having started the race from 11th on the grid.
Dale Coyne have yet to announce who will drive in place of Sebastien Bourdais this weekend in Detroit having had James Davison in the No.18 for the Indy 500. Former Formula One driver Esteban Gutierrez is in the frame to partner Jones this weekend.
Speaking ahead of Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear, Jones commented by saying:
It’s been a busy few weeks, so it will be nice to get back to a more normal schedule and to be able to focus on a street course. We’ve done well on the first couple of street courses this year, so we hope to continue that and score some important points. I think it may be a tough weekend physically, especially considering that we didn’t get a lot of time to train over the last few weeks, but I’m confident we can do well.
