A young Scott Dixon fan has hand written a letter to the Verizon IndyCar Series for protecting her favourite driver.

Second grader Lucy wrote:

Dear IndyCar,

I love Scott Dixon and as you may know he just got in a big crash. So what I wanted to tell you is that Thank you so much for keeping him safe. I saw him limping on TV and just wanted to make sure he was ok. I’ve loved Scott Dixon since I was really little, and when I saw the crash I got so scared and started crying. Again Thank You So Much For Keeping Him Safe.

Sincerely,

Lucy, Grade 2.

Dixon, who started the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil from pole position walked away from a huge crash during the race when he was hit by Jay Howard’s No.77 Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Honda.

Dixon was cleared to race in the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit last weekend and in the opening race on Saturday, Dixon finished the race in second place behind race winner Graham Rahal while in the second race, the New Zealander driving the No.9 Camping World Chip Ganassi Racing Honda finished the event in sixth place.

The Iceman heads to the Rainguard Water Sealers 600 at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend leading the series standings on 303 points, eight ahead of Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves.
