Kanaan And Dixon Set To Extend IndyCar Run This Weekend
Chip Ganassi Racing team mates Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan will extend their run in the Verizon IndyCar Series this weekend with the Rainguard Water Sealers 600 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Tony Kanaan in the No.10 NTT DATA Honda will start his 274th consecutive Verizon IndyCar Series start that dates back to June 2001, in Portland. Speaking ahead of the race where last season he finished on the podium in third place, Kanaan commented by saying:
I love racing at Texas Motor Speedway, and I can’t wait to get back there this weekend. We’ve been on the podium there the last few years with a second and a third, so I think it’s time to get back on top with a win this weekend. We’ve had a rollercoaster of a season, but the No. 10 NTT Data Honda has been strong on the two ovals we’ve been to so far. I always look forward to coming back to Texas and racing under the lights, especially with our partners NTT Data and 7-Eleven being based close by and having such a strong presence at the race.”
Scott Dixon in the No.9 Camping World Honda heads to Texas aiming to extend his lead in the Verizon IndyCar Series points standings which currently stands at eight over Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves.
The Iceman will make his 215th consecutive Verizon IndyCar Series start this weekend, the second highest number of consecutive races in IndyCar history.
Dixon is looking forward to the race in Texas and speaking ahead of Saturday’s event the Iceman said:
“This is a very tough stretch for the teams in the Verizon IndyCar Series coming off the month of May, through a doubleheader in Detroit, then right into Texas. Some of us then go right from Texas to Le Mans, so we have a lot going on. As a driver you want to be in the car as much as possible, so for us this is a good thing. We have had good cars at Texas in the past and I’m looking forward to hopefully getting good points for the championship this weekend.”
