A Very Positive Day For Saavedra In Toronto
Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Sebastian Saavedra, who only got the call up to replace Mikhail Aleshin in the No.7 Lucas Oil Honda on Thursday. The Colombian completed 57 laps of the Honda Indy Toronto circuit at Exhibition Place.
In the opening practice session on Friday morning, Saavedra ended up in 21st place with a time of 01:03.9240s.
In the second session on Friday afternoon, Saavedra set a time of 01:02.1493s ending the session in 21st place.
It was the first time that the Colombian had driven the Honda aero-kit having raced for the Chevrolet powered Juncos Racing in the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in May.
Speaking following his first day on track with the team, Saavedra commented by saying:
It’s a little bit of a last-minute scenario, which leaves very little time to prepare. “We went out there and tried to get familiar with this Honda-powered machine. This is my first time in a Honda-powered car with this aero kit, so definitely there’s a lot to learn, but altogether very positive.
