The Honda Indy Toronto race at Exhibition Place on Sunday saw Josef Newgarden score his second win of the season, however that was only half the story.

In the battle for the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series championship, Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves in the No.3 Hitachi Chevrolet gained valuable ground to series points leader Scott Dixon.

Castroneves who is searching for his first Verizon IndyCar Series title heads to the next race, the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car course having closed the gap to just three points.

Dixon heads to Mid-Ohio aiming to bounce back from two tough races in Iowa and Toronto however the Iceman has a great record in Mid-Ohio having won here several times.

There are five races left in the season with Mid-Ohio, the ABC Supply 500, the Verizon IndyCar Series return to Gateway Motorsports Park, the IndyCar Grand Prix at the Glen and double points season fianle Grand Prix of Sonoma.

Dixon recovered well in Toronto after being hit by Will Power to score a top ten finish.
