Miles Confirms McLaren IndyCar Interest
Mark Miles, president of the Verizon IndyCar Series parent company Hulman and Company has said that McLaren could set up an IndyCar team in 2019.
Speaking to Spain’s El Mundeo Deportivo newspaper, Miles said that McLaren Executive Director Zak Brown has been in contact with him looking for information on the potential 2019 Verizon IndyCar Series schedule.
McLaren returned to the Verizon IndyCar Series earlier this year with Fernando Alonso competing in the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.
Alonso qualified in fifth place in the McLaren Honda Andretti however was forced to retire from the race.
Alonso is currently considering his options for next season with his current contract with McLaren set to expire at the end of the year there has been reports he could move to the Verizon IndyCar Series full-time in 2018.
