Several Drivers Could Replace Aleshin At Schmidt Peterson Motorsports
Schmidt Peterson Motorsports announced overnight that they have parted company with Mikhail Aleshin with immediate affect.
The next question is who will replace the Russian in the No.7 Lucas Oil Honda for the final four races of the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season. Colombian Sebastian Saavedra replaced Aleshin for the Honda Indy Toronto last moth where he finished the race just outside the top ten in 11th place.
Saavedra has a great relationship with James Hinchcliffe and the pair worked well together at the race in Toronto.
When it comes to 2018, German Touring car driver Robert Wickens could be in the frame for a part time scheduled drive with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports depending on what route the team decide.
The Canadian drove took part in a successful test with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports at the Road America circuit in June.
Shortly after the test, Wickens filled in for Aleshin during the opening practice for the Kohler Grand Prix at the Road America circuit in June.
