Chaves Happy With The Progress Harding Racing Have Made As He Starts P8
Gabby Chaves in the No.88 Harding Racing Chevrolet continued his and the teams fantastic progress in the Verizon IndyCar Series in qualifying for the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway on Saturday.
The Colombian who is competing in his third race of the season with the Harding Racing team which is backed by Mike Harding and Larry Curry will help from Al Unser will start Sunday’s race from eighth place ahead of the likes of Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon and Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden.
The team who are expected to announce their plans to go full-time in the Verizon IndyCar Series from 2018 onwards in the next week or so have had a fantastic start to their time in the series.
At their debut race, the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in May, Chaves started the race from 25th and finished the race in eighth. At the Rainguard Water Sealers 500 at Texas Motor Speedway he started the race from 20th place and finished the event in fifth place.
Speaking following Saturday’s qualifying he commented by saying:
That was good and I am certainly happy with the progress we’ve made. I came into this weekend with the team and we said we wanted to improve our qualifying. We’ve had pretty good race cars, and pretty good races. We want to be overall better. First way to do that was improve our qualifying and we did that this weekend.
