Firestone Bringing More Than 1700 Tires To The Season Finale GoPro Grand Prix Of Sonoma

Firestone Racing have confirmed that they are bringing more than 1700 tires to the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season finale GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma which is set to be a thrilling title decider.

Firestone are bringing the Black Primary, the Grey Rain and Red Alternate tire for this weekend with each driver receiving seven sets of the PRIMARY tire, four sets of the ALTERNATE tire and five sets of the GREY rain tire.

The compound will be the same construction as used for this  Wyears Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park. Speaking ahead of the season finale, Chief Engineer with Bridgestone Americas Motorsports commented by saying:

Based on the feedback from drivers, we decided to bring more durable compounds. “The 2017 Sonoma primary and alternate tires use the same race-proven specifications as the 2017 Barber tires. This compound is more durable than the 2016 Sonoma primary compound. The 2017 Sonoma alternate tire is similar to the 2016 Sonoma primary.
