Penske To Remain A Four Car Team With Castroneves Set To Stay In IndyCar

Team Penske look set to remain as a four car full-time operation in the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2018.

It had widely been expected that Penske were set to downsize to a three car operation next season as Helio Castroneves looked set to join Penske’s new Acura programme in the IMSA WhetherTech Championship.

Paddock Eye has learned that Helio Castroneves who drives the No.3 Hitachi Chevrolet and is one of the four Penske drivers in contention for the championship looks set to remain with The Captain’s team next season. It is also believed that Penske’s engine supplier Chevrolet are keen to see the outfit remain a four car full-time operation next season.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s race in Sonoma, Castroneves who has yet to win the Verizon IndyCar Series championship but is a three time Indianapolis 500 winner said he hopes to be racing with Team Penske at Sonoma in 2018.

Team Penske and Helio Castroneves will not discuss their future plans during this weekend’s 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season finale.
