Newgarden Targets The Indianapolis 500
Verizon IndyCar Series champion Josef Newgarden says his next goal is to win the Indianapolis 500.
Speaking at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Thursday as he continued his cross country championship media tour, the Tennessee native spoke about the 500 saying:
It’s what built Team Penske’s legecy. Driving for Roger, that’s what he wants to win. As drivers, it’s the one we want to win too. It’s the hardest race to win.
Newgarden went on to say that with only one shot a year to win the Indianapolis 500 it is his primary goal next season to win the Indianapolis 500 at add to Roger Penske’s collection of baby Borg’s.
Speaking about the new aero kit, Newgarden said that he is excited, a little nervous and a bit anxious about it but that he knows that as a team they will be able to adapt to the new variable and hopefully win the Indianapolis 500 in 2018.
