Montoya Would Jump At The Opportunity To Race In The Indy 500 Next Season
Juan Pablo Montoya has confirmed that he would jump at the opportunity to return to the Indianapolis 500 with Penske in 2018.
The two time Indianapolis 500 winner was replaced at The Captain, Roger Penske’s Verizon IndyCar Series team ahead of the 2017 season by Josef Newgarden who went on to win the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series championship says he would love the opportunity to return to the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil next May.
Montoya has joined Penske’s new IMSA Sports Car programme in an Acura Prototype and it was also confirmed recently that the Colombian, and his Verizon IndyCar Series team mate’s Helio Castroneves and Simon Pagenaud will compete in the Petit LeManas race at Road Atlanta next weekend.
Montoya drove the No.22 Fitzgerald Glider Kits Chevrolet in a fifth Penske for the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil and he would love to do the race again.
Montoya has confirmed however that he has yet to discuss the 2018 Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil with team owner Roger Penske or Team Penske president Tim Cindric.
Montoya finished the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in sixth place have started the event from 18th place on the grid.
Montoya has an awful lot of experience with the 2018 aero kit as he tested the new Chevrolet universal aero-kit for the Verizon IndyCar Series while Oriol Servia tested the Honda universal aero-kit.
The 102nd Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil takes place on May 27th, 2018.
