Miles Reveals Scheduling Conflicts Were Behind The Axing Of Watkins Glen
Mark Miles, CEO of Hulman and Co. the parent company to the Verizon IndyCar Series has confirmed that Watkins Glen lost its place on the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series schedule to due to scheduling problems between the circuit and the series.
It was announced last week that Portland will return to the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2018 in place of Watkins Glen which made its return to the series schedule in 2016 as a replacement for the ill-fated Boston Grand Prix.
The race in Watkins Glen has for past two seasons been held over Labor Day weekend. The 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series kicks off on March 11 with the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg.
