Hamilton Stays Top In Second Practice At Interlagos
Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton remained fastest in the second practice session on Friday ahead of Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver set a fastest time of 01:09.515s ending the session just ahead of team mate Valtteri Bottas.
Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo was third fastest just ahead of Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel while Max Verstappen, who won last time out in Mexico was fifth fastest.
Kimi Raikkonen in the second Ferrari was sixth fastest just ahead of Force India’s Esteban Ocon. Felipe Massa, who is competing in his final home race as a Formula One driver after announcing his retirement from the sport last weekend was eighth fastest for Williams Martini Racing. The Renault Sport F1 Team’s Nico Hulkenberg was ninth.
McLaren Honda’s Fernando Alonso rounded out the top ten with a fastest time of 01:10.655s ending the session just ahead of Carlos Sainz in the second Renault.
Sergio Perez was 13th fastest for Force India ending the session just ahead of Stoffel Vandoorne’s McLaren Honda. Williams Martini Racing’s Lance Stroll was 14th fastest just ahead of the Haas F1 Team’s Romain Grosjean.
Pierre Gasly was 16th fastest for Toro Rosso ending the session just ahead of his team mate Brendon Hartley.
The Sauber F1 Team’s Pascal Wehrlein and Marcus Ericsson ended the session in 18th and 19th place respectively. The Haas F1 Team ran Antonio Giovinazzi ran in place of Kevin Magnussen in the second session having traded his FP1 outing for FP2. Giovinazzi set a fastest time of 01:12.417s.
