The Verizon IndyCar Series will not have a race in Mexico in 2018 after abandoning plans to stage a race in Mexico City.

Speaking about the decision, CO of Hulman and Company, IndyCar’s parent company Mark Miles said:

“IndyCar is invested in the process of putting together the right deal with a partner we are certain can deliver this race,

Miles went on to say that the series were not in a position to finalise a deal that was going to be beneficial to the teams, manufacturers or stakeholders for 2018.

Miles confirmed however that the series is committed to making a race in Mexico City work and that a deal could be done for 2019.
