Kubica No Longer In The Frame For Williams Drive

The Williams Martini Racing Team have reportedly ended their interest in signing Robert Kubica for the 2018 Formula One season.

Reports in the media in the UK on Monday have reported that Kubica, who has been testing Formula One cars for both Renault and Williams was thought to be seeking a return to the sport in 2018.

Kubica has not raced in Formula One since 2010 having suffered serious injury following a rally accident.

Paddock Eye understands that Renault reserve driver Sergey Siroktin is now the front runner to get the second seat at Williams alongside Lance Stroll.

The Russian brings a reported £15 million in sponsorship money from Russian company SMP Racing who helped Mikhail Aleshin in the Verizon IndyCar Series with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.

Williams have confirmed that they are not in any hurry to confirm their 2018 line-up.
