Testing To Start On January 8th
The 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series will kick off on January 8th with teams officially free to conduct winter testing ahead of the start of the season with the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg taking place from March 9-11.
Schmidt Peterson Motorsports were in action earlier this week with Robert Wickens conducting his first test of the new aero kit at Sebring International Raceway.
The Canadian who joins countryman James Hinchcliffe at the team for 2018 enjoyed the test and gave great feedback which the team were extremely happy with. Schmidt Peterson Motorsport will run two full-time cars in 2018 with Englishman Jack Harvey joining the team for six races during the season with the help of Michael Shank Racing.
A number of teams have been testing in recent weeks with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, Chip Ganassi Racing and AJ Foyt Racing testing their new cars.
It has been suggested that Andretti Autosport could be set to move engine manufacturer for 2018 from Honda to Chevrolet. The four car team have yet to test the new aero kit leading to suggestions that they could be moving to Chevrolet.
