Wickens Aiming For Top Ten Finishes In His Debut IndyCar Series Season
New Verizon IndyCar Series driver Robert Wickens, who will make his full-time competitive debut in the Verizon IndyCar Series at the 2018 season opening Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg next month says he is hoping that he can secure top ten finishes for his new team.
Wickens joins his fellow Canadian and friend James Hinchcliffe at the Indianapolis based outfit having made the move from the German Touring Car championship over the winter.
Wickens showed great speed in 2017 when he tested for the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports outfit when he and Hinchcliffe conducted a seat swap. The Mayor of HinchTown will remain in the No.5 Arrow Electronics Honda while Wickens will drive the No.6 Lucas Oil Honda.
Speaking during a media event at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis as the team unveiled their 2018 liveries this week, Wickens explained that he hopes he can challenge for top ten finishes on a regular basis during the 2018 season.
Speaking during the launch event, Wickens said that as it is his rookie year he is going to do everything possible to finish every lap of every race and is going to go from there.
Wickens will join the rest of his Verizon IndyCar Series competitors during the first official open pre-season test at ISM Raceway near Phoenix from February 9th and 10th. Wickens will also take part in rookie oval testing from 3-7PM (local time) on Thursday 9th February.
