McLaren Conducting IndyCar Due Diligence

McLaren CEO Zak Brown has confirmed that the Woking based outfit are carrying out due diligence on a full-time entrant in the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2019.

Brown who along with McLaren Racing Director Eric Boullier attended the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit presented by Lear last weekend and this weekend, Andretti Autosport owner Michael Andretti was at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal with McLaren.

Speaking in Montreal on Saturday, Brown said that McLaren are seriously considering a full-time Verizon IndyCar Series programme in 2019 but that it needs to make commercial sense, they want to be competitive and something that fits the McLaren brand.

Brown indicated that an announcement will be made within the next few months regarding an IndyCar programme. Speaking last weekend in Detroit he said that he would attend at least one more race in the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series season.
