Wickens Leads The Way In Final Practice Ahead Of Qualifying At Road America
Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Robert Wickens in the No.6 Lucas Oil Honda ended the final practice session ahead of qualifying for the Kohler Grand Prix at Road America as the fastest driver. The Canadian set a fastest time of 01:42.9915s ending the session just ahead of Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter Reay in the No.28 DHL Honda.
Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud in the No.22 Menards Chevrolet was third fastest just ahead of Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi while Graham Rahal in the No.15 Gehl Honda was fifth fastest for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
Series points leader Scott Dixon was sixth fastest in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda with a time of 01:43.5479s ending the session just ahead of Zach Veach who brought out the red flag.
Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe in the No.5 Arrow Electronics Honda was eighth fastest just ahead of Dale Coyne with Vasser Sullivan Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais in the No.18 SealMaster Honda while Team Penske’s Will Power rounded out the top ten.
Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Takuma Sato in the No.30 Mi-Jack Panasonic Honda was 11th fastest just ahead of Chip Ganassi Racing’s Ed Jones in the No.10 First Data Honda.
Defending series champion Josef Newgarden in the No.1 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet was 13th fastest just ahead of Marco Andretti and Spencer Pigot. Jordan King in the No.20 Fuzzy’s Vodka Chevrolet was 16th fastest just ahead of Tony Kanaan’s No.14 ABC Supply Chevrolet.
Zachary Claman DeMelo was 18th for Dale Coyne Racing just ahead of Mathues Matt Leist while Carlin Racing’s Charlie Kimball and Max Chilton were 20th and 21st respectively. Alfonso Celis Jr was 22nd for Juncos Racing while Harding Racing’s Gabby Chaves rounded out the order in 23rd place.
