Team Penske had a great qualifying session on Saturday for today’s Iowa Corn 300 at Iowa Speedway with Indianapolis 500 winner Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Chevrolet securing his second successive Verizon P1 Award at Iowa Speedway.

Defending series champion Josef Newgarden in the No.1 Hitachi Chevrolet starts the race from second place while Simon Pagenaud in the No.22 Menards Chevrolet will start the race from fourth place and will have a new engine in his car following a failure as he entered pit-road following his qualifying run.

Team Penske may have been extremely strong however who driver who can’t be discounted from having a strong race is Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda who starts the race from sixth place on the grid.

The Iceman goes into today’s race with a 45 point advantage over second placed Ryan Hunter Reay.

Dixon struggled here last year but is hopeful that he can have a strong race here today.
