Fittipaldi Completes His First IndyCar Race Distance
Dale Coyne Racing’s Pietro Fittipaldi returned to racing in the Verizon IndyCar Series at Mid-Ohio on Sunday for the first time in three months following his crash in Spa in May.
The Brazilian who drives the No.19 Paysafe Honda for Dale Coyne Racing started the Honda Indy 200 from 22nd place and finished the race in 23rd place and speaking following the race he said:
Obviously I feel tired, it’s my first race back and it’s a tough one at Mid-Ohio, it’s really physically demanding here. “We started the race and we didn’t have that much pace at first in our #19 Paysafe car, so we ended up pitting early and then I had to let the leaders go by, so we lost a lot of time there. That said, I finished the race and that was my goal with my leg still hurting a bit, it’s still healing. I’m sure that by the time we get to our next road course in Portland we’ll be a lot better and I’ll be back at a 100% but I’m happy I was able to come here and finish the race. Now we can focus on our upcoming tests and our next race.
Dale Coyne Racing will head to Gateway Motorsports Park next week for a test ahead of the race under the lights there before heading to Pocono on August 9th for pre-race test session there.
