Stewart Targets 2019 Indy 500 Return
Former IndyCar Series and NASCAR team owner Tony Stewart has confirmed that he is considering competing in next years Indianapolis 500.
Paddock Eye reported on Thursday that Stewart is keen to compete at the Indianapolis 500 and he has earmarked the 2019 event as the one that he wants to come back for. The American last competed in the Indy 500 with Chip Ganassi Racing in 2001 when he finished in sixth place.
If I do it, I am doing it because I want to win the race.
As to who might run Stewart? Roger Penske has said that he has car for the NASCAR team owner.
Stewart has also said that he would not want to do just the Indianapolis 500 but would be interested in doing at least one other race so he could do what Helio Castroneves did this season and run both the IndyCar Grand Prix on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course and the Indianapolis 500.
