Verizon IndyCar Series team owner Roger Penske has confirmed that he wants to run three time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart in one of his cars for the Indianapolis 500 but says that it would be a stretch to do this for 2019 race due to other commitments the team have in place.

Speaking at Michigan Speedway on Sunday, Penske said that it would be a tough to run a fifth car in the 500 next season but that it is possible in the next few years.

Penske last ran five cars at the Indianapolis 500 in 2017 when Juan Pablo Montoya returned to the team for the Month of May in the No.22 Fitzgerald Glider Kits Chevrolet and Penske has already confirmed that three time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves will return for next year’s 500 and that the Brazilian has a place in 500 with Penske for as long as he wants it.

Stewart said earlier this week that he doesn’t want to be a side show in the 500 like how he felt Danica Patrick was this year with Ed Carpenter Racing.
