Alonso’s Toyota Contract Would Not Interfere With IndyCar
Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Fernando Alonso is free to compete in the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2019 if that is what the double Formula One world champion does indeed decide to do.
Paddock Eye understands that Alonso who was competing in the Six Hours of Silverstone last weekend would be able to run the entire 2019 IndyCar Series season including the Indianapolis 500 next May as he seeks to secure motorsports triple crown having won the 24 Hours of LeMans and the Monaco Grand Prix.
Paddock Eye understands that if Alonso does go down the IndyCar route next season with McLaren that the team will run Chevrolet engines as Honda have confirmed that they are running close to the edge with what they can provide next year.
Despite Toyota being disqualified from the Six Hours of Silverstone, Fernando Alonso holds a two point lead in the championship heading to the Six Hours Of Fuji in October.
