You’ve Got To Give A Lot Of Credit To O’Ward Man
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon who drives the No.9 PNC Bank Honda has heaped praise on Verizon IndyCar Series rookie, Patricio O’Ward who makes his race debut with Harding Racing in today’s 2018 season finale Grand Prix of Sonoma.
The Mexican was the start of qualifying on Saturday as he made an appearance in the Firestone Fast Six pole shootout and starts the race in fifth place ahead of championship contender Alexander Rossi who starts sixth.
Dixon who goes into the race with a 29 point lead in the championship commented about O’Ward saying:
You’ve got to give a lot of credit to O’Ward, man. A job well done. It’s been good to see.
Speaking his qualifying run, O’Ward said:
I honestly don’t know what to think about it. “When I saw that I moved into the Fast Six, I thought, ‘Newgarden, Dixon, Hunter-Reay, Andretti, Rossi – such big names, you’ve been looking at them for years and years and years.’
“It’s something that you have to start believing that you can be like them, that you can beat them, that you can give them a run for their money. It’s a new feeling.
