Ocon In The Frame For The Second Williams Seat Alongside Russell
Williams Martini Racing’s Deputy Team Principal Claire Williams has confirmed that Racing Point Force India F1 Team driver Esteban Ocon is on the Grove based outfit’s shortlist to drive for them in 2019.
On Friday, Williams announced that Mercedes test and reserve driver George Russell will make his Formula One debut with the team in 2019 becoming the outfit’s first British race driver since Jenson Button in the year 2000.
Williams have endured a tough 2018 Formula One season and are in 10th place in the Constructors championship on seven points.
Williams has said that the team are evaluating a number of drivers which Paddock Eye understands are Esteban Ocon, their current race driver Sergey Sirotkin and test and reserve driver Robert Kubica.
Williams said that the team would be crazy not to consider Ocon for the 2019 season.
