Monster Energy NASCAR Cup star Jimmie Johnson will fly to the UK on Monday where he will spend time at the McLaren Technology Centre having a seat fit and spending time in the McLaren simulator before he and his family head to Abu Dhabi for the final Formula One Grand Prix of the season as guests of McLaren Renault.

Johnson and Fernando Alonso will take part in a seat swap at the Bahrain International Circuit the day after the conclusion of the 2018 Formula One season.

Johnson’s No.48 Chevrolet is already en-route to Bahrain by sea freight with members of his team joining the pair in Bahrain to get the car ready for Alonso. The swap is not just a simple seat swap as Johnson will take part in a test run with multiple laps around the Bahrain International Circuit as will Alonso in the Chevrolet.

Speaking at a press conference at ISM Raceway, Johnson said that the pair had looked at different tracks around the US to do the seat swap however he confirmed that McLaren CEO Zak Brown suggested Bahrain as it is close to Abu Dhabi and McLaren will send a test team to the Sakhir circuit as their race team will be preparing for the end of season Abu Dhabi test which takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday following the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
