McLaren Will Be An Independent Entry For The Indianapolis 500
McLaren Racing will set up a new IndyCar Series team specifically for the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway next May with Fernando Alonso in the car according to McLaren CEO Zak Brown.
Speaking to the media regarding Saturday’s news that Fernando Alonso will return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway next year, Brown said that the IndyCar operation will be completely separate to their Formula One operation.
Brown revealed that the team will have no members of their Formula team involved in the IndyCar programme for the Indianapolis 500 but instead will employ personnel they know from within the IndyCar Series.
McLaren have confirmed that further details regarding theor 2019 Indianapolis 500 entry will be announced in the coming weeks.
