It’s Not Ideal, But It’s Not The End Of The World
Rokit Williams Racing have confirmed that they will skip the opening day of winter testing at the Barcelona Circuit Du Catalunya on Monday so that the Grove based outfit have extra time to complete the build process of the FW42.
When the team revealed their 2019 livery last week it was with the 2018 car with a 2019 spec front wing.
In confirming the news on Sunday morning, Rokit Williams Racing Deputy Team Principal Claire Williams said:
It’s clearly not ideal, but equally it’s not the end of the world.
“Our absolute priority is to always ensure we bring a car to the track that is the best that it can be and sometimes that takes longer than you’d anticipate or like.”
The Grove based outfit have an all new line up for 2019 with Robert Kubica returning to Formula One and George Russell set to make his debut.
The opening winter test takes place at the Barcelona Circuit Du Catalunya over four days and Williams concluded by saying:
We have had an incredibly busy winter at Grove getting the FW42 prepared for the season ahead and, despite everyone’s best efforts, we need some more time before it will be ready to run. We will obviously have our work cut out to recover the time lost but we still have seven days of testing left and we will be maximising that time to prepare the car for the first race.
The second four day test takes place from February 26.
