Toyota Racing Development’s David Wilson says he thinks it would be fun for double Formula One world champion and 2018 24 Hour of LeMans winner Fernando Alonso to compete for the Japanese manufacturer on a road course in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

Alonso who last month won the Daytona 24 Hours with Wayne Taylor Racing is currently under contract to Toyota Gazoo Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship and currently leads the drivers standings.

Wilson would love to see Alonso race on a street course like Watkins Glen. Wilson said he watched Alonso win the Rolex 24 Hours with Wayne Taylor Racing and he said he was compelled.

Alonso who retired from Formula One at the end of last season and will compete in the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge with McLaren in May. Last year the Spaniard did a ride swap with NASCAR star Jimmie Johnson at the Bahrain International Circuit and enjoyed the test.

The Spaniard will also finish the FIA World Endurance Championship season with Toyota Gazoo Racing. So we will have to watch this space.
