Scuderia Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc remained fastest on day 2 of winter testing in Barcelona on Tuesday, having topped the charts in the morning, Leclerc set a fastest time of 01:18.247s completing 157 laps.

It was another positive day for McLaren Renault as Lando Norris was second fastest in the MCL34 with a fastest time of 01:18.553s having completed 104 laps.

It was a great day for the Rich Energy Haas F1 Team who had two drivers in action. Kevin Magnussen ended the day with the third fastest time, a 01:19.206s.

On his first day for Scuderia Toro Rosso, Alex Albon ended the track action in fourth place with a fastest time of 01:19.301s.

Alfa Romeo Racing’s Antonio Giovinazzi was fifth fastest with a time of 01:19.312s ending the action having completed 101 laps.

Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s Valtteri Bottas in the W10 was sixth with a time of 01:19.535s.

Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Pierre Gasly was seventh fastest having completed 92 laps with a time of 01:19.814s despite crashing the RB15.

Speaking following the day’s action, Gasly said:

“The day was positive and I was really happy to be back behind the wheel after the winter break” said Pierre. “The first feeling is good. It was important for me to get comfortable in the car and we managed to do more than 90 laps. This afternoon, I was pushing and out of Turn 10 I went on the power, upshifted to fifth and lost the rear of the car. It was quite annoying to lose the last hour of testing. Apart from that, we tested a lot of things and got a lot of good information, there is a good potential. Of course we still have a lot of work to do over the next six days of testing but for me, aside from the last bit, the first day was great.”

For the second day running Nico Hulkenberg and Daniel Ricciardo shared the driving duties for the Renault F1 Team finishing the day in eighth and ninth place respectively.

Defending Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton rounded out the top ten as Mercedes decided to run both of their drivers.

SportPesa Racing Point F1 Team’s Lance Stroll completes 79 laps with a fastest time of 01:20.433s.

The Rich Energy Haas F1 Team’s Pietro Fittipaldi rounded out the order in 12th place completing 18 laps.

There was good news for the Rokit Williams Racing as the FW42 will arrive in Barcelona overnight allowing George Russell and Robert Kubica to share the car for the final two days of the first test on Wednesday and Thursday.
