Next Phase Of Cockpit Protection To Be Introduced By IndyCar
The NTT IndyCar Series announced on Tuesday the next planned step to help improve cockpit safety.
All cars participating in an open test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on April 24 with be fitted with AFP (Advanced Frontal Protection) a titanium piece built by chassis provider Dallara.
The device will be fitted infront of the cock-pit and along the chassis centre-line and has beend designed to deflect debris away from the driver.
The device will be fitted to all cars for the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on May 26 and all remaining races in the 2019 NTT IndyCar Series season following the Indy 500.
