The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach this weekend is the last chance for the NTT IndyCar Series teams and drivers to get a strong result heading into the Month of May.

In the opening three races of the season we have seen three different winners with Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden taking victory in the season opening Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg last month.

In the inaugural IndyCae Classic at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas, Colton Herta became the youngest ever IndyCar Series race winner for Harding Steinbrenner Racing while last time out at the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park, Takuma Sato took victory for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.

The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach is billed as the Indy 500 of street courses and is extremely popular among the drivers, teams and fans alike.

Defending NTT IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing is hoping to score his first race win of the 2019 season following an impressive second place finish at the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park last weekend.

The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach marks the first NTT IndyCar Series double header and following the race on Sunday, the NTT IndyCar Series circus pitches up at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the open test on the oval ahead of the Indianapolis 500 which takes place on May 26.

The test will see Fernando Alonso in the Chevrolet powered McLaren IndyCar for the first time at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway following his productive test at Texas Motor Speedway on Tuesday.

Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden leads the championship by 27 points over defending series champion Soctt Dixon.
