Bottas Leads Mercedes Front Row Lock Out In China

Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s Valtteri Bottas will lead the field away for tomorrow’s 1000th Grand Prix in China after claiming his second pole position of the season.

The Finn set a fastest lap of 01:31.547s and is joined on the front row by his team mate and defending World champion Lewis Hamilton.

Sebastian Vettel starts the race from third place for Ferrari with his team mate Charles Leclerc in fourth. It is a case of two by two down the grids as Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly start the race from fifth and sixth respectively.

The Renault F1 Team’s Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg start the race from seventh and eighth just ahead of the Haas F1 Team’s Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean who rounded out the top ten.

Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat ended the session in eleventh place just ahead of Racing Point F1 Team’s Sergio Checo Perez who starts the race from 12th.

Alfa Romeo Racing’s Kimi Raikkonen starts the race from 13th place just ahead of McLaren Renault’s Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris.

Lance Stroll in the second Racing Point starts the race from 16th place just ahead of the Rokit Williams Racing team’s George Russell and Robert Kubica.

The Alfa Romeo Racing team’s Antonio Giovinazzi failed to set a time due to a power unit issue while Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Alex Albon was unable to complete a lap in qualifying due to the accident he in FP3 as the team had to repair his car.
