Penske Unlikely To Look At Rossi For 2020
Roger Penske is unlikely to seek signing Alexander Rossi to drive for his NTT IndyCar Series team in 2020.
Penske’s Josef Newgarden currently leads the points standings while he also has defending Indianapolis 500 winner Will Power driving the No.12 Verizon Chevrolet.
The Captain also has Simon Pagenaud who has had a decent result in Long Beach and he will be hoping to carry that momentum into the Month of May.
Rossi may be part of Team Penske’s Sports car programme however that is due to his affiliation with Honda as the Penske operation is powered by Acura.
Rossi joined the NTT IndyCar Series with Andretti Autosport in 2016 and won the Indianapolis 500 as a rookie in 2016.
The Californian came close to winning the championship last season but just missed out to Scott Dixon.
Rossi has had a strong start to 2019 having completely dominated the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach last weekend taking pole position and winning the race.
Rossi heads into the month of May in second place in championship.
It is highly likely that Rossi will remain with Andretti Autosport in 2020. It is also extremely unlikely that Penske will will get rid of any of his three drivers and will not add a fourth car full time.
