We Have Four Bullets In The Gun

IndyCar team owners Chip Ganassi and Roger Penske chat on pit-road in Detroit

Roger Penske says he is hopeful that his drivers will be in a position to win him an 18th Indianapolis 500 crown.

The Captain is well placed to defend his crown as Simon Pagenaud will lead the field to the green flag from pole position having set a four lap average of 229.992MPH while defending Indianapolis 500 winner Will Power in the No.12 Verizon 5G Chevrolet starts the race from sixth place.

NTT IndyCar Series points leader Josef Newgarden in the No.2 Shell V-Power Nitro+ Chevrolet starts the race from eighth place. Helio Castroneves in the No.3 Pennzoil Chevrolet who returns to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be hoping to score his fourth Indianapolis 500 win from 12th place on the grid.

Speaking at the public drivers meeting on Saturday where he was presented with his baby Borg Warner trophy alongside defending champion Will Power, Penske wished his rivals the best of luck but also said that his team have four bullets in their gun.

The team are well placed today but the competition in the series is extremely tight so they may not have it all their own way TODAY.
