The 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season is heading to the finish line very quickly with just four races remaining this year.
The top six drivers in the Verizon IndyCar Series championship at the moment, Josef Newgarden, Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon, Simon Pagenaud, Will Power and Graham Rahal.
At the same point of the season last year, the top two drivers in the standings with four races to go were separated by 58 points. The top six in the standings have all taken at least one win this season.

- Helio Castroneves – Iowa Corn 300
- Scott Dixon – Kohler Grand Prix
- Simon Pagenaud – Desert Diamond West Valley Phoenix Grand Prix
- Will Power – IndyCar Grand Prix, Raingaurd Water Sealers 600
- Graham Rahal – Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Races 1 and 2
Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden currently leads the Verizon IndyCar Series championship standings on 453 points, seven ahead of team mate Helio Castroneves.
In the 13 races we have have had so far this season we have had nine different race winners with Sebastien Bourdais, James Hinchcliffe, Takuma Sato, Scott Dixon and Graham Rahal winning races for Honda powered teams while Josef Newgarden, Helio Castroneves, Simon Pagenaud and Will Power have all won races for the Chevrolet powered Team Penske.
The Verizon IndyCar Series heads to the Pocono Raceway next for the ABC Supply 500 before heading to the Bommarito Automotive Group 500. In September the series heads to Watkins Glen before the series heads to the series double points season finale GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma which takes place on September 17.
