Katie Hargitt’s first Fuel The Female Day took place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the opening day of practice for the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil on Tuesday.
More than 50 Indianapolis area high school girls attended the day at the Speedway and heard from the Verizon IndyCar Series Senior Vice President of National Media Kate Guerra who discussed how she got involved in motorsport.
The event was also attended by Director of Motorsports with Brigdestone Americas Lisa Boggs who held a Q&A with the students.
Firestone Racing’s Chief Engineer Cara Adams discussed the construction of the different tire compounds that the company uses in the Verizon IndyCar Series and she was later joined by Chip Ganassi Racing engineer, Kate Gudlach who is an engineer on Scott Dixon’s No.9 PNC Bank Honda.
Ed Carpenter Racing’s Danica Patrick joined the guests during lunch as she returns to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to compete in the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil where she spoke about her racing career and what she plans to do when she hangs up her helmet.
