Ed Carpenter Racing announced on Tuesday that for this weekend’s Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway both Ed Carpenter and Josef Newgarden will run the green Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka paint scheme.

Ed Carpenter is back in the cockpit of the No.20 Chevrolet after handing over the car to Spencer Pigot for last weekend’s double header Chevrolet Dual in Detroit.

The most recent oval race for Ed Carpenter was the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil where he made up eight positions in the first 50 laps of the race but was forced to retire from the race. Speaking ahead of this weekend’s race, Carpenter commented by saying:

It is always great to race at Texas Motor Speedway and it’s a track that we have had success at. I am ready to rebound from a tough Indianapolis 500 and the team is ready to keep the momentum going that we have built over the past month.

Josef Newgarden in the No.21 Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet heads to Texas following an extremely successful few weeks. At the Indianapolis 500 he qualified for the race in second place and went on to lead 15 laps and ended the race on the podium in third place.

In the opening race of the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit last weekend he finished the race in fourteenth place having started the event in 14th place respectively.

In the second race however he was stand out performing coming through the field from 17th place on the grid to finish the race in fourth place just behind Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter Reay. Newgarden goes into this weekend’s race in Texas in 4th place in the series points standings on 259 points just 12 points behind Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves. Speaking ahead of this weekend’s race, Newgarden commented by saying:

I absolutely love Texas, it’s one of my favorite Indy car tracks. It’s one of our best places for fans and certainly one of the best ovals to drive an Indy car on. I can’t wait to get back there with Ed again, I think we’ll have two really good chances with both of the Fuzzy’s Vodka cars. We’ll try to make something happen under the lights!
