The W Series season finale at Brands Hatch on Sunday had a bit of everything. There was drama, fantastic racing, a first time winner and of course a champion was crowned.
When the championship was officially launched at Autosport International in January it was met with some skepticism however following the opening race in Hockenheim it quickly became apparent that we were seeing something special.
Over the course of the weekend’s Brand Finale at Brands Hatch, Paddock Eye spoke to a number of high profile people in motorsport who were initially sceptical about the series but are now fully behind it after realizing it is something that motorsport needs.
Speaking following the race on Sunday, champion Jamie Chadwick said that she will reinvest her $500,000 prize money in her racing career.
Alice Powell who took victory in Sundays race, her first win of the championship said that she will return to the W Series next year and that in the coming weeks she will be racing in the US.
The main thing to takeaway from the season finale in Brands Hatch and indeed from the season as a whole is that it has provided fantastic wheel to wheel racing and has proven many of the doubters wrong.
